Dear JBE Families,
This school year has been anything but ordinary. Fortunately, we are surrounded by extraordinary teachers, administrators, and staff at our school. They have found a way to make learning fun and exciting, all the while behind plexiglass and masks. The goal of our PTO is to support the learning efforts of all children at James B. Edwards Elementary and to assist with any teacher needs that are not covered by funding at the district level. The past two years we have been able to provide for our kids and teachers with money raised during our annual Capital Campaign. We have funded staff positions, given teachers additional classroom funds as well as provide for larger projects at the school. This year, we would love to allocate additional monies to our library, as well as hiring an additional reading specialist on top of still supporting all classrooms. We have traditionally kicked off a Capital Campaign in the Fall, followed by an in person auction in the Spring but this year we have had to get creative, think outside the box and inside a mask! We are combining the Capital Campaign with a Reading Challenge during the month of March. Our goal is to raise $200 per student and for each student to set an individual reading goal with the help of their teacher. We will have weekly class winners for the fundraising efforts. We hope that this will make all the students feel included in the efforts and also increase their reading ability: WIN! WIN! Individual prizes for students include: Any donation- JBE Pencil $50 donation- Excellent Egret Reader Bookmark $100 donation- Excellent Egret Reader Pencil Case $200 donation- Excellent Egret Yard Sign $500 donation- Book donated to the Library with your child’s name imprinted $1000 donation- 2 reserved seats to our May Day Celebration* $1500 donation- Reserved parking spot along with 2 reserved seats to our May Day Celebration* Your generous donations are also tax deductible. We have a couple of ways you can donate (online donations preferred): 1. Send a check or cash in the envelope we are sending home the first week in March. 2.
