French is the official language of the United Nations and Olympics and is the only language spoken on all five continents (there are over 300 million French speakers in the world). JBE is fortunate to offer a Foreign Language in the Elementary School (FLES) program of French. Prior to JBE's program no elementary options in French existed in District 1. The District's goal is to bring back French options in middle school allowing a K-12 articulated French curriculum. JBE has two full time French teachers. Currently, grades Kindergarten and First receive instruction three times per week and grades Second through Fifth receive instruction twice per week. The goal is that each student at JBE will receive French instruction three to five times per week.
